Nurhachi, the leader of the Manchu, established the Qing Dynasty when he conquered Beijing, the capital of the Ming Dynasty, in 1644. He adopted the reign title of Shunzhi. Prior to ascending the imperial throne of China as the first Qing emperor, he minted the Abkai Fulingga Han Jiha coin (Imperial coin of the Heavenly Mandate). An interesting feature of the Qing coin is the use of both Chinese script and Manchu script on the face of the coin. Generally the obverse of the coin shows the reign title while the reverse shows the mint in Chinese and Manchu. All the cash coins minted during the ShunZhi reign were in 1 cash.
